Nine rings with a step cut stone, $185 to $439. A step cut is flat planes and straight edges instead of the scattered facets of a brilliant. It does not sparkle in the same way — it flashes in broad panels as the hand moves, and it shows the stone honestly, because there is nothing to hide an inclusion behind.
The family includes emerald cuts, baguettes and asscher-style squares, and all three appear here. They suit deco settings for the same reason: straight lines next to straight lines. Most of the pieces in this group have stepped shoulders and milgrain edges.
Stone sizes are given in millimetres on each product page, along with band width and thickness. A step cut sits flatter than a brilliant of the same footprint, which makes it a practical everyday shape — less to catch.
