FAQ, Shipping and Returns
Orders, making, and delivery
How long before my order ships?
Production takes 9 to 14 business days. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for you. Your piece is made after you order it, by hand, in our New Jersey studio, and then ships from Connecticut. Delivery time comes on top of production and depends on where you are.
Why does it take that long?
Because it does not exist yet. The gold is cut, formed, set, and finished for your order in your size, and it is one pair of hands doing it, not a machine and not a shelf.
I need it by a specific date. Can you do it?
Ask us before you order, with the date. We will tell you honestly whether we can make it, and if we cannot we will say so rather than take the order and hope.
Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
United States. Standard shipping is free on orders over $70, and $8 below that. Express is available at checkout for $15 if you need it sooner. Every U.S. order ships from our Connecticut facility with tracking.
Rest of the world. We ship internationally through DHL Express and USPS. The exact rate is calculated at checkout from your address and the weight of the parcel, so you see it before you pay. Customs duties and import taxes are set by your own country, and we cannot pay those on your behalf.
Returns, exchanges and size changes are free either way.
How does it arrive?
In a hard jewelry box, ready to hand over. If it is a gift, tell us and we will include a note.
Can I ask for signature on delivery, or anything else special?
Yes. Tell us before you order, or leave a note with the order, and we will set it up. Signature required on delivery, a specific carrier, extra insurance, shipping to an address other than the billing one, holding a package until a certain date, discreet packaging for a surprise — none of it is a problem when we know in advance. Once a parcel is moving it is much harder to change.
Every order leaves our Connecticut facility, and production takes 9 to 14 business days before that. If your date is tight, write to us first and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
Size and fit
How do I find my ring size?
Order a cheap plastic ring sizer or print a paper one, and measure the actual finger the ring will live on. String and tape measures are where most sizing mistakes start.
- Measure in the afternoon or evening. Fingers are smallest in the morning and in the cold.
- The ring has to clear your knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, size up a quarter.
- Wide bands sit tighter than thin ones. On a band over about 5 mm, go up a quarter size.
Buying a surprise gift? Borrow a ring she already wears on that finger and measure the inside diameter, or ask us. We do this every week.
What sizes do you make?
US sizes 3 through 10, in quarter steps, at no extra charge. Every ring is made to your measurement anyway, so a quarter size costs the same as a whole one. If you need something outside that range, ask. We usually can.
It does not fit. Now what?
Write to us. Size exchanges are free, including the shipping both ways. Some pieces can be resized, others are cleaner to remake, and we will tell you which yours is instead of guessing.
Does your sizing run small?
A few customers have told us their piece felt tighter than other rings they own in the same number, and that is worth understanding rather than dismissing. Ring size is a measurement of the inside of the band, but how a ring feels also depends on its width, its profile, and how far it has to travel over your knuckle. A 1.5 mm band in a size 7 and a 6 mm band in a size 7 do not feel the same on the same finger.
We make to the US size you give us. If it lands wrong, the exchange is free and there is no argument about it.
What it actually looks like in person
Will it look like the photos?
The design, the metal, and the finish, yes. The scale is the part to look at carefully, and it is the single thing customers most often tell us surprised them.
Product photos are enlarged so the setting, the texture, and the stone work are visible on a screen. In life these pieces are small. Bands often run 1 to 2 mm wide and accent stones are frequently around 1 mm across. That is what makes them wearable every day, and it is also why a photo blown up to the width of your phone can mislead you.
Before you order, do two things: read the measurements in millimeters on the product page, and look at the photo on a hand if the gallery has one. If you are unsure, hold a ruler and look at what 1.5 mm actually is. Then it will not be a surprise. We would rather you order the right piece than the wrong one twice.
Is it too delicate for everyday wear?
Most of it is made for everyday wear. Fine pieces are still fine, though. A thin band or a pointed detail can bend or snag if it is caught on fabric, gym equipment, or a car door. If you are hard on your hands, tell us what your days look like and we will point you at a sturdier band width or a lower, more protected setting.
Something on my ring feels sharp or catches on clothing.
Then it did not leave the bench finished, and it is our job to fix. Send us a photo and your order number. A sharp prong or an unpolished edge is covered under the warranty, and we cover the shipping both ways. Do not sand it or take it to another jeweler first.
Stones
What stone is in my ring?
Unless the product page says otherwise, the standard stone is AAA grade cubic zirconia. It is cut well, set by hand, and it holds its brilliance, and it is not a diamond. We are not going to imply otherwise, because you will find out and you should not have to find out from anyone but us.
Whatever is in your piece, the product page names it exactly.
Can I get a real diamond, moissanite, or a genuine gemstone?
Yes. Natural diamond, lab-grown diamond, moissanite, and genuine gemstones are all available on request. Message us with the piece and the stone you want before you order and we will quote you the difference.
Can I choose a birthstone color?
Yes. Twelve colors, one for each month: garnet, amethyst, aquamarine, clear, emerald, alexandrite, ruby, peridot, sapphire, tourmaline, citrine, and blue topaz. Pick your month, or pick the color you like. Nobody is checking.
Will the stones fall out?
They should not, and if one does within the first year, that is a warranty repair, not your problem. Stones come loose most often after a knock. If you feel a stone move or catch a prong on fabric, stop wearing the piece and write to us. A loose stone is a quick fix. A lost stone is a new stone.
Gold
What kind of gold is this?
Solid 10K, 14K, or 18K gold, your choice, in yellow, white, or rose. Never plated, never gold filled, never vermeil. Every piece is hallmarked with its karat.
Which karat should I pick?
- 10K is the hardest of the three and the most resistant to scratches and bending, with a paler yellow.
- 14K is the middle ground and what most people wear daily in the US.
- 18K has the deepest color and the highest gold content, and it is the softest, so it marks more easily.
All three are the same price with us, so choose by how you live, not by budget.
Will it tarnish or turn my finger green?
No. There is no plating to wear through, so there is nothing to flake off or discolor. Solid gold does pick up fine scratches over the years and can dull from lotion and soap film. Warm water, a drop of dish soap, and a soft brush bring it back.
Engraving and custom work
Do you engrave, and what does it cost?
We engrave, and it is free. Up to 20 characters inside the band: letters, numbers, a date, initials, a short word. Add your text on the product page before adding to cart, and check your spelling carefully, because we engrave exactly what you type.
Engraving is done in a simple, legible style suited to the inside of a narrow band. If you have a specific look in mind, ask us before you order rather than after.
Can you make something custom?
Often, yes. Stone, karat, color, band width, and setting can all be changed. For a full custom piece we build a 3D model first, so you see it before we cut any gold. Message us with what you have in mind, and if we cannot do it we will tell you that too.
Returns, exchanges, and problems
Can I return it?
Returns and exchanges are accepted within 14 days of delivery, and they are free. You do not pay to send it back and you do not pay for the replacement to reach you.
The exception is personalization. An engraved band or a custom-made piece was made for one person and cannot be sold to anyone else, so those are final sale. That does not apply if something is wrong with the piece. If we made an error or the piece is defective, engraved or not, we fix it.
I received the wrong item.
Tell us right away with your order number and a photo of what arrived. We pay for the return and we get the correct piece to you. You should not be out a dollar or a day of arguing over a mistake that was ours.
Something broke or came loose.
Every piece carries a one-year manufacturing warranty. Read the warranty page for what is covered and how to file a claim. In short: photos, your order number, and a straight description of what happened.
Care
How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of dish soap, a soft toothbrush, then dry it completely. That is it. Skip ultrasonic cleaners and abrasive polishes at home, especially on pieces with set stones.
What should I keep it away from?
Chlorine, bleach, household cleaners, hand sanitizer, and salt water. Put jewelry on after lotion, perfume, and hairspray, not before. Take rings off for the gym and for heavy work. Store pieces separately so they do not scratch each other.
