Fifteen solitaires, $132 to $512. A solitaire is one stone and nothing else, which means there is nowhere to hide: the setting has to be square to the band, the stone has to sit centred, and the shoulders have to taper evenly or the eye catches it straight away.
The shapes here are marquise, oval and step cut, with a few rounds. Marquise and oval both run lengthwise along the finger, which reads longer than a round of the same weight. Step cuts do the opposite — flat planes instead of scattered facets, so the stone is shown honestly and any inclusion has nowhere to go.
Settings range from plain four-prong through bezels that wrap the stone entirely, to raised vintage galleries that let light in from underneath. Band widths sit between 1.1 mm and 1.5 mm on most pieces.
Solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, never plated, hallmarked inside the band. AAA grade cubic zirconia as standard; natural diamond and moissanite on request. Made to order by hand in New Jersey in 6 to 9 business days, delivered in 9 to 17 business days total. Free resizing and free engraving.
